As we’ve discussed before, The Simpsons is not just a fun and iconic series—it’s also famous for predicting the future.
Recently, one of its producers revealed his favorite prediction, and it’s a memorable one.
The Simpsons is a popular American animated comedy series that has been on the air since 1987. With over 35 seasons to date, it’s one of the longest-running TV shows globally, broadcast in many countries and beloved by audiences of all ages.
The Simpsons producer reveals his favorite series prediction

David Mirkin, one of the show’s producers, recently appeared at the Vulture Festival, a pop culture event in Los Angeles celebrating fans of entertainment.
During his appearance, he offered advice to the next generation of writers and shared insights into the creative process behind the iconic show.
While addressing the audience, Mirkin shared that despite having aired over 700 episodes, his favorite and “funniest” prediction is one that actually came true.
As quoted by Prensa Libre, Mirkin pointed to the 2000 episode titled “Bart to the Future”, where the show envisioned a future where Donald Trump became the President of the United States.
Sixteen years later, this fictional scenario became a reality. “Trump’s presidency remains one of the funniest predictions we’ve ever made,” Mirkin told the attendees with a smile.
In the same episode, Lisa Simpson is depicted as Trump’s successor, serving as the first female president of the United States.
Mirkin added, “I truly believe a woman will become president one day. It’s just a matter of time.” He linked this optimistic prediction to the campaigns of figures like Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton, suggesting it’s a future we may see sooner rather than later.
Wrapping up his talk, Mirkin joked about how the show’s writing staff might occasionally receive visits from time travelers who share future events with them.
He quipped that sometimes, the details are just too specific, eliciting laughter from the audience.

Satirical takes on society
Jokes aside, it’s worth noting that The Simpsons has always blended humor, social commentary, and satire in a way that occasionally results in eerily accurate predictions.
This success is likely due to the team’s deep understanding of society and their ability to extrapolate current trends into plausible future scenarios.
The show’s legacy as a cultural phenomenon continues, proving that comedy can be both entertaining and thought-provoking, with an occasional glimpse into the future.
